Accomplishments

  • Retirement Benefits: Raised the pension funding above 90% activating the sunset clause on the pension. This reinstated the full early retirement benefits beginning at age 60. It also meant that any retiree who was subject to the old retirement factors would have them recalculated with the new factors moving forward.
  • Pension Enhancements: Achieved a pension improvement to increase the multiplier, increasing the memberships yearly accrual amount. This will allow members to retire with the dignity they deserve.
  • Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA): Increased the HRA contribution to $1.50 per hour, helping members pay for qualified medical expenses.
  • Future Security Initiatives: Implemented elective deferrals to the annuity fund for better financial planning. Allowing the membership the ability to take from their hourly wage and add to their annuity.
  • Negotiated Contracts:
  • Negotiated a 4-year Inside/Commercial Agreement from May 30, 2022, until May 31, 2026.
  • Negotiated a 4-year Voice-Data-Video Agreement from September 5, 2022, until August 20, 2026
  • Negotiated a 5-year A Sign Agreement from July 3, 2023, until July 2, 2028.
  • Negotiated a 5-year Manufacturing/Factory Production Agreement from June 3, 2024, until June 3, 2029.
  • Negotiated a 5-year Municipal Agreement with the City of Warrenville from May 1, 2024, until April 30, 2029.
  • Negotiated a 5-year Maintenance Agreement from May 31, 2021, until May 31, 2026
  • Wage and Benefits Advocacy: Celebrated recent pay allocations, while maintaining a strong commitment to advancing wages and improving benefits.
  • Wellness Clinics: Continued partnership and increased utilization of the Union Wellness Clinics, providing members with convenient care and helping lower healthcare costs.
  • Apprenticeship Program: Accepted over 40 apprentices annually for three consecutive years, fostering new industry talent and workforce development.
  • Responsible Bidders Ordinance: Played a pivotal role in the adoption of the Responsible Bidders Ordinance by multiple local authorities, including the DuPage Airport Authority, DuPage County Forest Preserve, and the City of Naperville.
  • Safety Initiatives: Continued to advocate for safer working conditions to ensure the safety of all members.
  • Membership Assistance: Continued dedication to improving mental health for the membership by spreading awareness and encouraging the use of M.A.P.
  • Improved Transparency: Re-introduced the feeder to keep the membership up to date on current and upcoming work, news, and organizational events.
  • Leadership Experience: The leadership team brings over 50 years of combined experience in contract negotiations, labor law, and trustee management to name a few. Continuing to provide a solid foundation for strategic decision-making and advocacy for the membership.
